Not to mention – you can download it right from their website, and new versions are regularly coming out (they’re already up to 10, and 11 is coming). It often came (and probably still does) bundled with audio interfaces and other hardware gear. Kind of a strange workflow (I guess Adobe has done something like this), but it makes you feel a little like you’re in a walled garden where the plug could be pulled on you, so my one criticism would be to remove this and just let people use the software.Īccess to Ableton Live Lite is quite ubiquitous. The downside, if there is one, is that you will need to download BandLab Assist and create a free user account to download Cakewalk. It comes with plenty of usable effects, including convolution reverb, resonant filtering, dynamic compression, EQ to tape and console emulation, peak limiting, and tube saturation.Ĭakewalk is only available for Windows, but fortunately it works with Windows 7 or higher at 64-bit (no 32-bit versions). As such, its user interface is nicely designed, if a tad outdated (not a big deal in this case – it still looks good!). Its layout is traditional, emulating the layout of analog consoles. It has an award-winning UI, allows you to create unlimited tracks (audio, MIDI, instrument, loop, and auxiliary tracks), and in BandLab’s own words it features the “best audio engine,” along with VST3, Touch, and other leading technologies. Now that BandLab owns the software, my dream has, at last, come true!Ĭakewalk gives you the ability to compose, record, edit, mix, master, and share (you can publish directly to YouTube, SoundCloud, Facebook, and more). I remember a time when I desperately wanted SONAR Platinum, because I knew everything that was included with it. Cakewalk is basically SONAR Platinum, which originally cost $499. My advice – go and grab this DAW before BandLab decides they’re giving away too much. This is another stunning option for music producers and sound engineers. If you’ve never tried it before, Waveform is certainly worth a look it really is one of the best free DAWs right now. It’s nice to have a selection of built-in effects and instruments, but we all like being able to play with our favorite plugins, am I right? Waveform plays well with most VSTs, so add away! That’s probably the way it was meant to be used anyway. As a long-time user of the DAW, that’s always a nice thing to see. These are a little “basic” so far as effects are concerned, but Tracktion has been continually updating these with user-friendly graphical interfaces that make them more usable. Tracktion or Waveform has always had some built-in effects (like EQ, reverb, delay, and so on). That said, Waveform is somewhat customizable (if you upgrade to PRO, you can do more customization). How the controls are positioned are part of the workflow, so that’s going to come down to preference. It’s dark themed, which can make it a little easier on the eyes during long studio sessions. Waveform’s graphical user interface is attractive if simple. It feels like software that’s been developed to be software. Because Waveform doesn’t feel like a piece of software trying to emulate hardware. If the workflow isn’t for you, that’s okay, there are other more traditional DAWs on this list you will likely find a lot of utility in. It makes it easy for me to get started, get going, and take my project idea from start to finish quickly. What I like most about the DAW, and what some might find odd, is the workflow. Over the years, I’ve recorded acoustic duos, reggae bands, rock bands, podcasts, audiobooks, and other projects using Waveform. And while some might try to tell you that it’s best for electronic music and EDM (and it is good for that), you can honestly do anything with it. What this means is that Waveform has had plenty of time to mature. At the time, Tracktion software was owned by Mackie. Waveform was originally Tracktion, and Tracktion was a DAW all its own before it became a developer. And many gave their lives rather than violate even a relatively minor tenet of their faith, even in cases in which the Torah does not require the Jew to do so. Their deeds were based on their own convictions and the strength of their commitment to an invisible and often elusive G‑d. And, unlike with Abraham, G‑d had not directly spoken to them and requested their sacrifice. Typical is the story of Chanah, who, seeing her seven children tortured to death rather than bow before a Greek idol, proclaimed: “My children! Go to Abraham your father and say to him: You bound one offering upon the altar, and I have bound seven offerings . . .”įurthermore, while Abraham was prepared to sacrifice his son, in thousands of akeidahs throughout our history, Jews actually gave up their lives and the lives of their entire families. Time and again through the generations, Jews have encouraged their children to go to their deaths rather than violate their faith. But in this, too, Abraham was not unique. One might perhaps explain that the willingness to sacrifice one’s child is a far greater demonstration of faith than to forfeit one’s own life. But what is so unique about Abraham’s sacrifice? Have not countless thousands of Jews given their lives rather than renounce their covenant with the Almighty? Obviously, the supreme test of a person’s faith is his willingness to sacrifice his very existence for its sake. Remember how the first Jew bound all succeeding generations of Jews in a covenant of self-sacrifice to You. Every morning, we preface our prayers by reading the Torah’s account of the akeidah, and then say: “Master of the Universe! Just as Abraham our father suppressed his compassion for his only son to do Your will with a whole heart, so may Your compassion suppress Your wrath against us, and may Your mercy prevail over Your attributes of strict justice.”Īnd on Rosh Hashanah, when the world trembles in judgment before G‑d, we evoke the binding of Isaac by sounding the horn of a ram (reminiscent of the ram which replaced Isaac as an offering), as if to say: If we have no other merit, remember Abraham’s deed. This particular question- what is it that sets apart the akeidah from the countless other instances of human martyrdom and self-sacrifice?-is raised by almost all the commentaries and expounders of the Torah.įor the binding of Isaac has come to represent the ultimate in the Jew’s devotion to G‑d. Rabbi Schneur Zalman concluded: “Do you think this was mere talk? Each of them was describing the degree of self-sacrifice he himself had attained in his service of the Almighty.” When G‑d commanded him, ‘Do not touch the child, and do nothing to him,’ Abraham was overjoyed-not because his only child would not die, but because he was being given the opportunity to carry out another command of G‑d.” I think that Abraham’s uniqueness lies in his reaction upon finding out that it was all a test. Said the third: “I, too, would carry out G‑d’s will with joy. Abraham’s greatness lay in that he went to the akeidah with a heart full of joy over the opportunity to fulfill G‑d’s will.” Said the second one: “If G‑d told me to sacrifice my only son, I too would waste not a moment to carry out His command. Abraham’s greatness lay in that he arose early in the morning to immediately fulfill the divine command.” “If G‑d had revealed Himself to me and commanded me to sacrifice my only son, would I not obey?”Īnswering his own question, he said: “If G‑d told me to sacrifice my only son, I would delay my doing so for a while, to keep him with me for a few days. “What was so special about the test of the akeidah (binding of Isaac)?” the first one asked. One winter night, as I lay on a bench in the study hall, I overheard a conversation between three of the oven-stokers. There was a group of chassidim who, having failed to merit to learn directly from our master, wanted to at least serve his pupils: to bring them water to wash their hands upon waking, to sweep the floors of the study hall, to heat the ovens during the winter months, and so on. In Mezeritch, it was extremely difficult to be accepted as a disciple of our master, Rabbi DovBer. The 777-300ER (extended range) was launched in February 2000 and first flight took place in February 2003. The 777-300 is the latest derivative of the 777 family and the first aircraft was delivered to Cathay Pacific in May 1998. The Boeing 777-300 is a stretched version of the 777, seating 328 to 394 passengers in a typical three class seating arrangement or 550 passengers in a single economy class arrangement. The airline received its fifth 777-200LR aircraft in September 2011. In November 2010, Boeing shipped its 900th 777-200LR aircraft to Ethiopian Airlines. Qatar Airways signed an agreement worth $501m with Boeing in July 2010 to acquire two additional Boeing 777-200LRs. Orders for 55 aircraft have been received including EVA Airways (three), Air India (eight), Qatar Airways, ILFC (two), Jet Airways (six), Emirates (ten), Air Canada (13) and Air India (eight).
